I would very much like to thank Disaster Focus for the excellent work they have done in building and developing the ground for Business Continuity and Disaster Management in Korea.

After an encouraging initial year celebrated in June 2008, further progress has been made and in my role as International Technical Director of the BCI I would like to congratulate all involved with Disaster Focus on their continued success.

The BCI is also growing rapidly and we look forward to seeing many more BCM practitioners from Korea joining our ranks as professional members or holding our certification grade of CBCI. An international body like the BCI working cooperatively with local experts like Disaster Focus is the way to benefit both parties.

Since last year much has happened to challenge the world economies and questions have been posed about how useful BCM can be in protecting against a global financial crisis and other non physical disasters. The emergence of a pandemic starting in Mexico has also raised the profile of our subject and will continue to do so over the next few months. The need for Business Continuity, Disaster Management and related topics such as Emergency Planning, Risk Management and Security has never been greater. I am sure you will rise to meet that challenge in the coming year.

글로벌 BCM 선진화와 확산에 노력하는 저희 Business Continuity Institute(the BCI)의 사무총장으로서, 2008년 7월 1주년에 이어 지금까지 지속적인 성장과 발전을 거듭해 온 재난포커스에 무한한 찬사를 보내는 바입니다.

BCI 역시 지속적으로 성장하고 있으며, 한국에서도 더 많은 BCI가 인증하는 국제 비즈니스연속성 전문가와 회원들이 많아지고, 앞으로도 BCI와 재난포커스가 같이 협력하여 많은 시너지를 낼 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있습니다.

글로벌 금융 위기와 가장 최근에 전세계적으로 창궐하는 신종 인플루엔자 등 여러가지 사건, 사고들이 위협요소로 우리에게 다가오고 있습니다. 이런 때일 수록 비즈니스연속성관리, 재난관리의 중요성은 더욱 커지는 것이고 국가, 민간 모두의 위기관리체계와 기반시설에 대한 대응, 복구 역량 확보와 재점검이 필요하며 모두 이를 위해 힘을 합하고 집중해야 하겠습니다.

다시 한번 축하드리며, 더욱 발전하는 좋은 모습 기대하겠습니다.
